September 20-27 will certainly be remembered due to an outpour of people from as many as 150 countries across the world to inform, educate and protest for the ever-growing climate change on the planet.

Youngsters, men, women, children and senior citizens have been taking to the streets to demand enforcement of strict actions to combat the nemesis called climate change.

Likewise, ample Pakistanis came out on 20th September to support the cause in different cities. Celebrities like Shaniera Akram, Adnan Malik, Rachel Viccaji and others also made sure to attend the event.

The absolutely surreal Ushna Shah, who has always been pretty vocal about issues which are clouding the society, took to Instagram to express her concerns on climate change. “In spite of all the problems I sometimes feel I have, I am beyond blessed. I have been fortunate enough to travel to so many beautiful places, and every now and then I try to share these places with you. So that you can experience them with me virtually or maybe plan to visit yourself one day (if destiny allows). The world is a fantastic place meant to be explored. It is beautiful and bountiful. Every culture must be learnt, every language must be heard, every food must be tasted and every view must be taken in,” she wrote.

She went on to talk about the importance of “memories on this beautiful planet” that we have. She continued, “This planet is a gift to us, and while we have the right to enjoy it, it is our duty to protect it. Climate change is real, and we are responsible. Wildlife is deteriorating; we are living in the sixth mass extinction and we are responsible. Deforestation is real and we are responsible. Every choice we make affects our beautiful planet.”

She urges her followers to make conscientious decisions by avoiding plastic. She writes, “do not support products that test on animals, limit pollution as much as you can and support clean-ups in your area. Protect wildlife, protect animals, plant trees, reduce water usage, use ecologically sustainable items, boycott businesses that release toxic waste, drive low emission cars, SPEAK UP when need be, do not support war, spread awareness and learn more!”

She closes the note with, “Protect this world so you can explore every inch of it and so the generations after you can too!”
